2026 Excavation Season

This year’s work built on nearly two decades of investigation, deepening our understanding of Alderney’s layered history – from its earliest prehistoric inhabitants through to its role in the Roman, medieval and wartime periods.

Dig Alderney brings together professional archaeologists and dedicated volunteers to investigate and promote the unique archaeology of Alderney, Channel Islands. Our work spans prehistory through to the Second World War.
The charity is run by a small committee with decades of combined experience in Channel Islands archaeology, museums and heritage management.
